IMA Group acquires Sarong Packaging Machinery and Packaging Materials divisions

On August 1st 2024, IMA Group, through the new established IMA Sarong, completed the closing for the acquisition of the Packaging Machinery and Packaging Materials divisions of Sarong, both based in Reggiolo (Reggio Emilia).

The acquisition of Sarong Packaging Machinery and Packaging Materials divisions, which have a combined workforce of 125 employees, enriches the portfolio of advanced packaging solutions provided by IMA Group and represents a further step of its strategy, aimed at consolidating and increasing its presence in the pharmaceutical market and in the consumer goods sector.

The Sarong divisions

Active since 1972, the Sarong Packaging Machinery division boasts almost 70% of suppository machinery manufacturing and installation, thanks to its very broad product range, R&D expertise and high-quality after-sales services. The Sarong Packaging Machinery division, in particular, designs, produces and sells automatic packaging machines for Form, Fill & Seal (FFS) and Fill & Seal (FS) thermoforming for single-dose products intended mainly for pharmaceutical customers and home care markets and of the person. Over the years, it has expanded the offering of FFS packaging lines by adding models for small, medium and large productions, from 6,000 up to 30,000 suppositories/ovules per hour, packaged with plastic films or aluminum foil, supported by single-dose machines of liquid or semi-liquid pharmaceutical products.

The Sarong Packaging Materials division is a global big player in the transformation and sale of suppositories/opulses, films and foils; Furthermore, it also operates as a converter of rigid films for thermoforming for liquid and semi-liquid pharmaceutical applications. The Sarong Packaging Materials division is also committed to sustainability through the constant search for new sustainable raw materials, such as recyclable plastic, compostable resins, recycled aluminum content and PVC-free lacquers.
