The number of people with diabetes continues to grow at an alarming rate, in particular for type 2 diabetes, responsible for over 90% of cases of all forms of diabetes and often associated with other chronic diseases such as obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia.

Considering this trend, during the 63rd edition of the AFI Symposium, a session will be dedicated to this topic: the Pharmaceutical Sciences Session, in fact, will deal with the research and development of new therapeutic approaches in the treatment of endocrinological diseases with particular attention to diabetes therapy.

The session, entitled “Research, development of new therapeutic approaches in the treatment of diabetes“, will offer an overview of the clinical, pharmacological and social aspects and will propose an analysis of technological platforms, portals, chronotherapy and new therapeutic approaches in the treatment of diabetes.

Particular emphasis will be given to new and consolidated technologies for controlled drug release and personalized pharmacological therapy in glycemic control.

In particular, it will clarify why it was decided to dedicate a session to therapeutic approaches in the treatment of diabetes during the AFI Symposium, what the most relevant clinical, pharmacological and social aspects generated by new therapeutic approaches are, as well as which they are new technologies for the controlled release of drugs.
